I used to think all brokers were basically the same, but a bad fill on a $5,000 order last month changed my mind completely.

Yeah, tell me about it. Had the same rude awakening on a small options trade. Makes you check every detail now.

Funny how a bad fill makes you look at the whole chain. It's not just the broker, but the path your order takes. Some of them send trades to specific places that pay them, not necessarily the place that gets you the best price. That order flow payment stuff can mean your five grand gets filled slower or at a worse spot than someone else's order, even at the same broker. Makes you wonder who they're really working for.
