Guy at a coffee shop in Austin said he left his broker after one bad fill, and that stuck with me
I was grabbing a coffee in Austin two weeks ago and the guy next to me started talking about how he pulled all his money from a broker over a single bad fill on a 200 share order. He said the fill came in 12 cents off from what he saw on the screen and he was done. I get being mad, but one bad fill on a small order felt like a quick trigger to me. It stuck with me because I've had two fills that were a few cents off in the past year and I just let it go. Now I'm wondering if I've been too lenient with slippage on small orders. How many cents off does a fill have to be before you start looking at other brokers?
