The 10-to-1 ratio claim from my foreman just failed a job in Denver
Last month we were laying a big retaining wall and he kept saying a good bricklayer uses 10 times more mortar than he thinks he needs, but I measured our mix against the spec sheet and we were wasting about 40 pounds per shift on over-buttering. Turns out the old rule of thumb was written for softer clay brick, not these dense concrete units that barely suck any moisture out of the bed. Has anyone else checked their mortar waste against the actual吸水 rate of modern brick, or is everyone just trusting the old timers blindly?
