That old timer at Anderson's Hardware gave me terrible mortar mixing advice
Guy swore up and down I should add extra lime to my type S mix for a retaining wall I was doing off Maple Street. Said it would make the mortar more workable. Well it was workable alright - the whole first course slid out of alignment after two days. Had to tear down 12 feet of wall and start over. Anyone else have an old school tip that just didn't hold up?

Wait, the OLDEST advice? Like "follow your heart" and "never give up" type stuff?
