Stopped using a speed level after a job in Phoenix
For years I trusted a 48 inch speed level for every wall, even tall ones. Then a crew lead in Phoenix watched me fight it for ten minutes and said, "trust the string line, not your thumbs." He showed me how he sets a taut line and checks every course against it, only using the level for corners and jambs. Tried it on the next house and my coursing came out straighter with way less redoing. Anyone else ditch the long level for a line and a pair of eyes?
