Spent $400 on a used brick saw that quit after two weeks
Picked up a secondhand MK diamond saw from a guy on Craigslist outside of Austin, seemed fine when I tested it on a paver. Got it home, cut maybe fifty bricks, and the motor started smoking on a retaining wall job. Anyone else had luck with used saws or should I just bite the bullet on a new one?

Man that's a rough one, sorry you got burned on that. Used tools are always a gamble, especially something like a brick saw that sees heavy use. I've seen guys pick up decent deals on saws before but it's usually when you can hear it run under load for a good while. For a retaining wall job that's a lot of cuts to trust a used motor on. Might be worth looking into what it would cost to fix the motor versus just cutting your losses and buying new.

Wait, you can hear it run under load? That's a thing?
