Saw a huge difference in a brick wall after using a jointer instead of a tuck pointer
I've been laying brick for about 8 years now, mostly residential stuff around Portland. Last week I did a small garden wall and decided to try a jointer for the mortar joints instead of my usual tuck pointer. The lines came out way cleaner and more uniform, like night and day compared to before. Any of you guys made that switch and stuck with it?

Hell yeah, I had the exact same thing happen! I was doing a retaining wall last spring and grabbed a jointer on a whim, now I won't touch a tuck pointer for fresh work. The uniformity is just so much better, especially on a long wall where you can really see the difference in the lines. Feels like once you dial in the pressure it's just so much smoother to run too.

Yeah, you noticing a big difference with the jointer? I tried one a few years back and never went back to the tuck pointer for new work. The lines just come out so much sharper, it feels like cheating.
