Old school trowel vs. the fancy new one, no contest for me

I picked up a used Marshalltown years back at a yard sale in Tulsa for $8. Last month I splurged on one of those ergonomic handled models, figured it would save my wrist. After three days on a retaining wall job, I went back to the old one. The balance is just different, and the way it flicks mortar feels natural instead of fighting me. Anyone else stuck with a beat up favorite tool over something newer?
