Found out my trowel grip was costing me 20% speed
Was watching a video from a bricklayer in Ohio last night, guy named Mike something. He timed himself with a standard grip vs pinching the handle higher up. Said he gained almost 20% more throws per hour just by moving his hand up an inch. Tried it this morning on a little garden wall I'm doing and man, my wrist didn't cramp up as fast either. Any of you guys change your grip and notice a difference like that?

Yeah I switched my grip about a year ago when my elbow started barking at me. Moved up about an inch and a half on the handle, just like that Mike guy says. First week felt weird and I kept adjusting back without thinking. But after that it clicked. My speed went up maybe 10-15% not quite 20 but close. Bigger thing was I could lay 300 blocks before my forearm gave out instead of 200. You got to watch your thumb position too don't pinch too tight or you'll trade wrist pain for thumb joint pain.

Most people just need to work on their wrist strength instead of messing with a grip that's worked fine for 20 years.
