Was totally wrong about that weird moss terrarium trend

My sister brought me this little jar with moss and rocks last spring and I thought it was just a dust collector. But after 8 months of watering it like twice total, it's somehow greener and fuller than half my actual houseplants. Has anyone else had a closed terrarium totally outgrow expectations like that?

Yo I totally read something about this! There was this guy who left a sealed terrarium in his garage for like 2 years and it turned into its own little ecosystem with bugs and everything. The science behind it is wild - the water just keeps cycling through the plants and glass. I tried making one with a big pickle jar last winter and it's so low maintenance it almost feels like cheating. Kinda makes you wonder why we bother with all those fussy houseplants when moss just handles itself.

Oh man YES that's exactly what I'm talking about! I did the same thing with an old spaghetti sauce jar and now there's this tiny fern just living its best life in there with zero effort from me lol.
