TIL my neighbor's 40 year old jade plant taught me more than any book
I was doing a termite inspection out in Fresno last month and the homeowner had this massive jade plant in her sunroom. Thing was taller than me, trunk as thick as my wrist. I asked how long she'd had it and she said since 1988, moved it through three houses and two divorces. She told me she only waters it when the leaves get slightly wrinkled, maybe once every 6 weeks. I always overwatered mine and killed two of them. She also said she rotates it a quarter turn every time she dusts the room, so it grows straight. I've been doing the wrinkle test for a few weeks now and my little jade at home finally put out new growth. Has anyone else got a plant that thrives on neglect like this? What's your weirdest care trick that actually works?

Most things in life just need less fussing, not more.
