That one fern I saved from the discount rack at Lowes
Picked up a crispy Boston fern for $3, thought it was toast. Soaked it in a tub of rain water for 2 hours, then trimmed every dead frond. It bounced back in 3 weeks, now it's taking over my porch. Anyone else rehab struggling plants from the clearance bin?

Three weeks is pretty fast for a Boston fern that was already crispy, did you cut it all the way down to the base or leave some of the shorter fronds on? I always second guess myself on that part, like how much brown is okay to keep without it dragging the whole plant down. Also that rain water trick, is there something about tap water that they hate, or was it more about the soak itself? Because I've got a spider plant that's seen better days and I'm wondering if I should try the same thing instead of just watering it like normal.
