That bottle of fish emulsion I left open in my shed actually made my ferns grow faster than any store brand fertilizer
I forgot about it for 3 months and when I finally used it the leaves turned dark green in just a week. Has anyone else had better luck with old or expired plant food?

Three months sitting open in a shed... I woulda just thrown it out honestly. That's wild you got such good results from something that probably smelled like rotten fish and death. I guess sometimes the stuff we think is ruined ends up being more concentrated or broken down in a good way.

My buddy Karl found a bag of milorganite in his garage that was probably 5 years old, the bag had a hole in it and some of it got wet. He used it on his lawn anyway because he didn't want to waste money, and that grass came in so thick and dark green that all his neighbors asked what he was using. The funny thing is he tried buying a fresh bag the next year and it didn't work half as well. I swear sometimes the breakdown process does something to the nutrients, like how compost gets better with age.
