My orchid rebloomed after I ignored it for 11 months

I stopped misting my phalaenopsis last spring and basically forgot it on the kitchen windowsill through winter. It just pushed out a spike with 7 buds, which is way more than when I fussed over it daily. Has anyone else found that neglect works better than constant care for certain plants?

Figured that out with my spider plants too, they thrive on plain old ignoring.
