I used to roll my eyes at people who talk to their plants, then I tried it for 2 weeks
I always thought it was crazy when my neighbor Mrs. Chen would chat with her ferns every morning. But last month I decided to test it out on my sad little basil plant that was barely growing. After 2 weeks of talking to it for 5 minutes a day, it put out 4 new leaves and actually looked perky. I even tried it on my peace lily that had brown tips for months, and the new growth came in clean. I'm still not convinced the plant hears me, but maybe it's the extra attention and CO2 from breathing on it. Has anyone else had weird results after a week or two of this?

Wait, the brown tips thing? That's the part that got me. I had a peace lily that looked exactly like that, like it was just giving up on life. I mean, I've been talking to my plants for a while now because it makes me feel less crazy, but I never even thought about the brown tips specifically. Mine had them for literally a year and I just accepted it. Then my sister told me it was probably fluoride in the tap water, not a motivation issue. But now you're saying you got clean new growth just from talking? I've been using filtered water and it still took months to fix. So either your plant is super responsive or I've been doing something wrong this whole time. Idk, maybe I should just talk louder.

@nancy_green maybe your plant is just stubborn, like my snake plant that took a year to forgive me after I moved it three feet to the left.
