Warning: the window display at Powell's on Hawthorne had 47 copies of the same book and I can't stop thinking about it
I walked past Powell's on Hawthorne in Portland last Tuesday and the whole front window was just one single title stacked 47 times in a giant pyramid with zero signage explaining why. I stood there for like 10 minutes trying to figure out if it was a mistake, a joke, or some marketing stunt, and when I finally went in to ask, the cashier just shrugged and said the manager thought it looked cool. Is this a normal thing at indie shops now, or did I just witness a display person having a total meltdown?
