Spent 2 hours rearranging one tiny display at the bookshop on 4th Street and I am still not sure it was worth it
So I help out at this little indie shop on 4th Street in my town, and the owner asked me to redo the front window for fall. I figured it would take 30 minutes tops. It ended up taking 2 hours and 15 minutes because I kept moving the same three books around trying to get the spine colors to look right next to a ceramic pumpkin. The problem was the light coming in around 3pm made everything look orange, so I had to keep stepping outside to check it from the sidewalk. I finally just gave up and put the big orange book in the middle and called it done. Now the owner says it looks great and wants me to do the holiday one too. My question for you all, do you think a window display should be about making the books look pretty, or about making people want to walk in and grab one? I honestly cannot decide and I am curious what other people think.
