A window full of only toasters, 3 weeks ago in Portland

Popped into a shop on Hawthorne and the whole display was just nine toasters, each propped open with a different book inside. No theme, no sign, just bread slots and pages. Anyone else seen a display that made you question if the owner lost a bet?

Did you catch the part where each toaster had a different book propped inside it? I read a piece last month about how independent shops in Portland are trying weird window displays to get people talking, and this sounds exactly like that. Honestly, it beats the usual sad mannequin in a raincoat. My guess is the owner either lost a bet or got a bulk deal on unsold toasters from a closing kitchen store. Either way, it's the most interesting window I've heard about in ages, and I kind of respect the weirdness.
