A bookseller in Ann Arbor said my window display needed one less book, and dang it, she was right

I spent 3 hours stacking 14 copies of the same novel into a spiral for my shop's front window, then my friend Dana walked by and said it looked like a book avalanche waiting to happen. I pulled out 5 copies, added a little sign with a quote from page 40, and 6 people came in that afternoon asking about it. Anybody else got a rule of thumb for how many copies is too many in one display?
