Vent: That memoir everyone hyped that I dropped 3 chapters in
I kept seeing this one celeb memoir on every "must read" list so I grabbed it from the library last week. The first 50 pages were just name-dropping and vague family drama with zero actual plot or story. Anyone else feel like some of these big memoirs are just written to sell copies not to actually tell a good story?

Oh yeah, "must read" usually means "must sell" in my experience. Those first 50 pages of name-dropping are just the celeb trying to prove they're still relevant. I dropped mine when the big "emotional reveal" was just them complaining about a private jet being delayed.

Completely agree with you. I got through one of those "raw and honest" memoirs and it was literally 200 pages of them talking about their favorite hotels. The private jet complaint is so spot on, it's like they don't realize most people are just trying to afford a direct flight, not a whole extra plane. Did you ever try another one that actually surprised you in a good way?
