Had to bail on Dune after 150 pages and that felt weird

Tbh I thought I'd love it since everyone raves about the worldbuilding, but the pacing just killed it for me. I kept zoning out during the political meetings and gave up last Tuesday. Anyone else bounce off a classic they felt they should like?

Ngl you’re not alone there. I pushed through the whole thing and it never really clicked for me either. Sometimes the hype just sets expectations way too high.

Notice the same thing happens with movies, restaurants, and even new phone apps - everyone builds something up so much that you end up disappointed no matter how good it actually is. It's like we've all forgotten how to just let things be good without turning them into the next big thing. Really makes you wonder how many genuinely decent experiences we've ruined for ourselves that way.
