Gave up on Infinite Jest at page 200, then tried reading it out loud to my dog and it finally clicked
I could not keep a single plot thread straight until I started reading it aloud in the backyard, and hearing the sentences made the footnotes stick in my head. Got through 60 pages that way in one evening in Denver, which is more than the three weeks before it combined. Has anyone else had a book only work once they heard it instead of read it?
