Dune was supposed to be this epic masterpiece but I quit after 100 pages
I tried reading Dune because everyone says it's a must-read sci-fi classic. But honestly, the pacing just killed me. Too much political intrigue and not enough action for my taste. I compared it to the movie which I actually enjoyed, and the book felt like a chore. Has anyone else given up on a hyped book only to love the movie version?

I heard about this thing called "Dune's big middle section" where the pacing just drops off a cliff right after the Atreides get to Arrakis. My buddy who read it said the whole first half is basically setup and politics, not much happens until halfway through. I get why people bail, everyone says the spice mining and sandworms are the cool part but you gotta grind through a lot of boring stuff first.
