Why does nobody talk about the book 'A Fine Balance' by Rohinton Mistry?

I visited a tiny independent bookstore in Portland last week and the owner recommended it. I read it in three days and I'm still wrecked. It's about four strangers in 1970s India and the way their lives get tangled up. Has anyone else had a random bookstore recommendation that just leveled you?

Yeah that book wrecked me too. Random bookstore recs hit different.

@riverknight ... but what was it about that one that really got you? I had to put it down twice because of the part with the old man and the dog... still can't shake that image. Did it hit you in a specific moment or was it more like a slow burn that just kept building?
