That passage in 'A Little Life' where Jude's past caught up to him on a Tuesday afternoon
I was sitting in my car during a 15 minute break between shifts at the diner, reading on my phone. The part where he breaks down in the bathroom at work hit me so hard I had to put the phone down and just stare at the steering wheel for a minute. I was sweating from the grill and already tired, and that scene just stripped everything away. I actually had to text my friend who recommended it and ask how she got through the book without throwing it across the room. Has anyone else had a book ambush you at work like that?

That "staring at the steering wheel" moment is exactly what got me. Nobody talks about how the book uses that quiet, mundane Tuesday to make the trauma hit worse, like life just keeps going while you're falling apart.
