That conversation with my uncle Bob at 2AM about a kids book

I was staying at my uncle Bob's place in Clovis last month after a job fell through. We ended up talking until 2AM about 'The Little Prince' and he said something about how the book isn't really for kids, it's for adults who forgot how to see things. He pointed out that the narrator's drawing of the boa constrictor eating an elephant is basically about how we stop imagining as we get older. That hit me harder than I expected, has anyone else had a book totally shift meaning when someone else explained their take on it?

Oh man, that's such a good point from your uncle Bob. I actually read a thing online recently about how 'The Little Prince' was written while Saint-Exupery was really struggling with his own sense of purpose during WWII. It made me look at the whole book differently, like the fox and the rose are all about how we get attached to people and things even when we know they're not perfect. Idk, it's wild how a kids story can have so many layers depending on who you talk to.
