Tried that paste wax trick from the retired conservator
An old conservator at a workshop in Austin told me to use paste wax on my guillotine blade bed instead of silicone spray, and I figured why not. After two weeks of trimming about 80 book blocks, the bed is way smoother and the squeak is totally gone, no buildup on the paper edges either. Has anyone else switched away from spray lubricants on their cutting setup, or is silicone still the norm for you?
