Stitching vs glue: which holds up better over 5 years?

I just finished rebinding a 2018 novel that had the glue binding crack down the middle. But my old 2019 stitch-bound notebook is still solid. Has anyone else seen a clear winner between the two methods over time?

Glue has its place if the book isn't going to get rough treatment. But for anything you actually use, stitching wins every time, no contest.
