Pro tip: Goat skin from my Istanbul market find beats expensive leather

I got some local goat skin at a bazaar there last year. Lots of folks say you need costly imported leather for good books. But this skin was simpler to fold and gets a nice look over time. Now I hunt for local materials on every trip. It makes each bind special and saves money too.

Yeah, local stuff often works way better than fancy imports. Got to check the texture before you buy though.

Goat skin from an Istanbul market outlasting pricey leather is wild. I paid a fortune for imported calfskin last year and it cracked within months. Oscar390 might be onto something with local materials having better texture.

My buddy grabbed a belt from a street vendor in Marrakech for like ten bucks. That thing looked rough at first but it softened up perfect and he's worn it almost every day for three years now. Meanwhile his designer wallet from the mall started peeling in under a year. Makes you wonder what they do to the fancy leather that makes it so weak.
