My uncle Joe told me to use rice flour for bookbinding paste instead of wheat

Tried it last weekend on a rebind of a 1920s novel and the paste held way better with no yellowing after 3 days. Has anyone else experimented with alternative flours for paste?

Yo is potato starch any better than rice flour for not yellowing over time? I've been nervous to try it cause I don't want my pages looking like old newspaper after a year. That's awesome your paste held though dude, I had the same worry about yellowing and went with white rice flour on a 1930s detective novel. The glue actually dried clearer than the wheat paste I used on another book last month. Feels good to know someone else is testing this stuff out too.

Whoa, I've seen folks use potato starch for binding too, works a treat.
