My book press decided to crack right down the middle mid-project
Was gluing up a stack of signatures last Tuesday and heard this loud snap. Looked over and my trusty wooden press had split from top to bottom. Gave me a good scare and ruined about 2 hours of work. Anyone else have a tool just give out on them at the worst possible moment?

Oh man that's brutal... a press cracking mid glue up is just insult to injury honestly. Like you're already wrestling with signatures and glue and then your equipment decides to betray you. I had a bone folder just snap in half once while I was trying to smooth down a stubborn spine piece and it sent a chunk of plastic flying across the room. Hit my coffee mug too so that was a double loss. Hope you've got a backup press stashed somewhere or at least some clamps to get you through the next few days...

@lilymurphy that bone folder incident sounds like a bad luck charm, hope your tools don't gang up on you too.
