Glue pot vs paste pot, I switched after 15 years of binding

I always thought paste was for amateurs until a mentor in Portland showed me how the same 30 year old paste recipe gives a crisper hinge on a 200 page journal, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has seen that big a before-and-after difference with just changing adhesive.

Oh man, same thing happened to me with a bookbinder in Chicago, switched after a decade and the spines just feel way more alive! It's wild how a simple swap changes the whole flex and crack of the pages.
