Caught a new binder using PVA glue on a leather cover today
Watched a guy at the local shop wreck a $60 piece of goat leather. PVA soaks right in. Makes the leather stiff and cracked in a week. You need flexible glue for leather. Something like pH-neutral or a proper leather adhesive. I've been fixing these mistakes for 5 years now. Anyone else seen this happen?

Three bucks says that binder is still using that same PVA on everything a year from now (and probably wondering why his books are falling apart). I once glued a paperback with wood glue just to see what would happen and it went exactly as well as you’d expect - basically a brick with pages.

Man I did the exact same thing on my first wallet project and turned that leather into a stiff board. It was a total disaster but hey at least I learned something new about glue that day, right?
