After 5 years, I just realized my bone folder was upside down the whole time because a client asked why my creases looked 'fuzzy'.

I was using the rounded edge for scoring instead of the flat side, and it explains why my paper grain tests in Portland always came out weird.

Oh man, that "fuzzy creases" line from your client would have made my heart drop. I did the exact same thing for like a year, and I could never get a clean fold on cover stock. It makes total sense now why your paper tests were off, that rounded edge just mushes the fibers instead of sharpening them.

Oh gosh, I've actually been wondering if part of the problem is how hard people press with those rounded folders. Most folks just mash down like they're trying to flatten concrete, but I've found a lighter hand actually helps the fibers bend instead of crush. The rounded edge needs a different angle too, almost like you're coaxing the fold instead of forcing it.
