Used to hunt for old sci-fi paperbacks at garage sales every Saturday, now I just refresh the library sale page at 7am
Back in like 2019 I would map out 5 or 6 garage sales around Sacramento every Saturday morning and dig through boxes hoping to find a beat up Asimov or Le Guin for a buck, and half the time I came home with nothing but a sunburn. Last year I started checking the Friends of the Library sale site the second it updates at 7am on Fridays and I've pulled way better stuff, like a 1974 Dune paperback for $2, without leaving my couch. Is it cheating to skip the hunt and just grab the good stuff online, or is hunting half the whole point of this hobby?
