Paid $60 for a box of books at an estate sale in Reno and half of them smell like wet basement
I hit an estate sale off Virginia Street in Reno on Saturday and the guy wanted $60 for a whole box of hardcovers, which sounded great until I got them home. Turns out the box sat in his garage next to a leaky water heater and now about eight of them have that gross mildew smell that will not come out. I tried the dryer sheet trick and the freezer thing and they still stink up my shelf. The other seven books are fine and two are actually worth something, so I guess I broke even. Does anyone have a real fix for mildew smell or should I just toss the wet ones?
