Comparing two used book stores in Chicago, one clearly won my wallet back
Honestly, I hit up both Volumes Bookcafe and Myopic Books last Saturday with $60 to burn. Volumes had the fancy coffee and curated displays, but Myopic had a 3-story maze of shelves where I scored a hardcover Shirley Jackson for $7, a beat-up Asimov trilogy for $12, and a weird local zine collection for $4. The vibe was messier but the search felt real, not like browsing a marketing spreadsheet. Anyone else find the dusty, chaotic stores beat the shiny ones for actually finishing a haul under budget?
