The night our book club tore apart a romance novel for 2 hours straight
Last Tuesday at Sarah’s place in Austin, we picked up a popular romance book and everything went sideways. Someone pointed out the love interest never actually apologized for ditching the main character, and then we spent 45 minutes debating if that made him a red flag or just bad writing. It was the most heated we’ve ever been - my friend Jen actually pulled up a Google Doc to list out every time he was selfish. Has anyone else had a book club argument that got way too intense over a character flaw?

Honestly, people do say real sorrys sometimes but it's usually in person when you can actually see they mean it. Ngl though, online apologies have turned into this weird PR thing where every word is picked apart. Tbh, blaming it on a whole generation ignoring real remorse kinda misses how different face-to-face and digital communication actually work.
