Four weeks of meetings before they tossed you out? That's brutal, @jessel35. I'd be fuming if I invested that much time just to get the boot over one topic. Did they at least give you a heads up like a private message saying "hey maybe ease up on the author stuff" or was it straight to the ban hammer? Sounds like they had a super rigid rulebook they didn't share until it was too late.

Did you know the rules before you brought it up? I used to run a small meetup group a few years back and learned real quick that some subjects are like landmines even when they're true. Best move is to check the group's posted guidelines or message the mods privately before bringing up controversial stuff next time. Some book clubs have a "no drama" rule written right in the description, and if they don't, you can usually feel out the vibe from a few meetings first. If they booted you without even a warning though, that says more about them than you.
