Spent 4 hours tracking down a character name that was wrong in our book club notes

We read this thriller last month and I kept looking up a character named "Marcus" but he didn't exist in the book - turns out the discussion guide printed his name wrong and I wasted a whole evening trying to find someone who wasn't there. How long do you guys usually spend fact-checking club materials before you just give up?

It's like everything has typos now, nobody proofreads anything anymore.

Oh man, "Marcus" not existing is brutal. When that happens to me I usually just check the first few pages of the book or skim the cast list online, and if it still doesn't match I just go with what the book says and ignore the guide. Saves a ton of headache.
