Our book club split over whether we should count audiobooks as 'reading' and it got heated fast
Last Tuesday night, three members walked out of my living room when I said audiobooks don't count for our monthly challenges, and now I'm wondering if I should just change the rule or let the group fall apart over it, has anyone else dealt with this debate in their club?

...and honestly I gotta side with the people who walked out on this one. I mean look, I get it if you're talking about the physical act of turning pages or whatever, but the whole point of a book club is to share and discuss stories right? If someone hears every word of a book on audio and wants to talk about the plot and characters with the group, how is that different from someone who read it with their eyes? Seems like a pretty arbitrary line to draw. Plus some people have dyslexia or just don't have time to sit down with a physical book but can listen while driving or cooking. Changing the rule would probably keep your group together and honestly make it more fun for everyone.

Agree completely, my group had the same fight and letting people count audiobooks brought everyone back together.
