My book club in Portland had a huge fight about the ending of 'The Road'

This guy, Mark, got so mad about the ambiguous ending that he stood up and yelled, 'If the boy dies, the whole book is pointless!' right in the middle of the cafe. We had to calm him down while the barista gave us the side-eye for like five minutes straight. Has your group ever had a meltdown over an author's choice like that?

Ever see someone get that mad over a book? My old group almost came to blows over whether Gatsby was a good guy or not.
