My book club called my notes 'too neat' and I actually fixed it
I run the discussion notes for our Portland group of 9 people. One member said my summaries read like a corporate report and nobody wanted to argue with them. So I started writing down the three messiest disagreements we had each week, with direct quotes from the argument. It took about 2 months to get used to, but now our debates run 40 minutes longer and people actually interrupt me to correct the record. Has anyone else gotten criticism that made their meetings better, or is this just a weird group dynamic? I still think tidy notes have their place if the book is dull.

Never thought of notes as debate fuel, but you just changed my mind.
