Had to choose between Book A and Book B for my club... picked wrong

Our book club was split between 'The Night Circus' and 'Piranesi' for this month. I pushed hard for 'Piranesi' because I loved the weird fantasy vibes. But half the group hated it, said it was too confusing and slow. Now I'm stuck defending my pick at every meeting while the other side brings up how 'The Night Circus' was more romantic and easier to talk about. Has anyone else had a book club choice totally backfire like that?

I mean, it's a book club, not a court case. You don't have to defend your pick like you're on trial. Just shrug and say they can pick next time.

Yeah, I saw this article once about how people get weirdly defensive about their favorites like it says something about them as a person. Exactly what @kim.stella said, just let the book speak for itself. Or don't, pass the mic to someone else.
