Got called out at the Portland library book club for skipping the last 50 pages of a book

This guy named Dave asked me if I actually finished The Underground Railroad and I had to admit I skimmed the ending. Has anyone else gotten busted for faking it at a book club meeting?

Why even go to book club if you're not gonna actually read the whole thing tho? The whole point is to discuss the full story not just the parts you felt like reading. Sounds like Dave was justified in calling you out tbh.

Well, honestly, I think skipping the last 50 pages is kind of a power move, not a failure @wade438. Maybe Dave just missed the metaphor in the part you actually read.
