Found a trick to stop my book club from endless arguing about character motives

Every meeting we'd spend 45 minutes debating if the protagonist was secretly lying in chapter 3, so last month I brought a printed list of book club question prompts from a library website. Turns out having simple starter questions like "What did you notice about the setting?" kept people on track and we finished discussion in under an hour. Has anyone else found a simple cheat sheet or structure that actually calms down their group's debates?

yeah I did something similar but I made laminated cards with different question types like "plot" "character" "theme" on them. we pick one at random if the convo gets stuck and it works way better than trying to herd cats. seriously cuts down the time people spend arguing about stuff that doesnt even matter to the book.

Honestly, is it really that deep? People are just reading books for fun, not settling a court case.
