I've been doing this 14 years and always figured slow preheat was just something old timers said to sound smart. He ran it up to 400 and held it there, and the xray came back clean on all 6 joints, so now I'm the one dragging the torch around. How long do you all hold preheat on thick wall pipe before you start laying bead?
