Tired of guys burning through flap discs in 10 minutes
Was on a job at a refinery outside Baton Rouge last month and watched a kid go through 6 flap discs in one shift. Drives me nuts seeing people run them at max RPM and lean on them like they're grinding steel. I can make one disc last a full day if I keep the angle right and let the tool do the work. Anyone else notice this or am I just old school?

Guilty as charged, I once leaned so hard on a disc I was basically trying to surf on it.

Trying to surf on it" - man that got me good. I can just picture some dude leaning so hard the disc starts throwing sparks sideways like a damn fireworks show. Had a helper do that once, the disc actually chunked out and a piece hit him in the chest. Left a bruise for a week. He still didn't get the hint. Some guys just gotta learn the hard way I guess. But six discs in a shift? That's like burning a twenty dollar bill every hour.
