That moment I realized my purge valve was 3 years overdue for replacement.

Noticed my steam line was pulsing on startup last Thursday, tore down the valve and found the seat was worn down to nothing, been venting pressure every cycle without knowing it - has anyone else caught a hidden leak like that from a simple fluctuation?

Walked past my thermostat for six months before I noticed it was clicking on and off every five minutes, turned out the filter was so clogged it was basically suffocating the system. It's wild how you can get used to little fluctuations and just assume that's normal, like your car always rides a little rough or your fridge always makes that noise. That worn valve seat you found is probably the cause of a dozen other tiny issues you wrote off as just how things are. Once you fix the root problem, everything else smooths out and you wonder how you put up with the gradual decline for so long lol. It's like when a lightbulb burns out in a room you use every day but you don't notice it for a week because your brain just accepts the dimness.
