Stumbled on an old union handbook from 1987 at a jobsite in Gary

I was cleaning out a gang box we inherited from a retiring foreman and found a tattered Local 74 handbook. It had a note in the margin about preheating before welding on thick plate, written by someone named Hank. That little tip saved me from cold cracking on a 2 inch flange yesterday. Any of you guys ever find old trade secrets tucked away like that?

Yeah man that's gold right there. Real history you can use.

That's how real knowledge gets passed down man, not from some textbook or training video. Little handwritten notes in margins, grease-stained pages with someone's initials and a date. Reminds me how much stuff gets lost when places go digital. All those little tweaks and shortcuts guys figured out over 30 years just vanish into thin air. Good on you for keeping that book, that Hank knew what was up lol.
